Geometric lines form a pattern using the shapes of four runes; Wunjo, Eihwaz, Uruz and Othila. It is said that the Runes came to Odin as he hung from Yggdrasil as a sacrifice to himself. After nine days and nights hanging on the tree, wounded by a spear, he discovered the runes (or created them, depending on what source you're reading) and gained much wisdom.

Yggdrasil, the tree at the centre of the Norse universe spans the nine realms of Norse mythology. Its three roots delve into Niflheim, the underworld, Jotunheim, the realm of the frost giants and Asgard, the home of the gods. If looked at closely, you may be able to see the face of Odin amongst the branches. A ribbon wraps around the tree, upon it is a verse from the Poetic Edda describing Odin hanging from the world tree.

A mounted Valkyrie flies over the battlefield, holding her spear aloft, filled with the bloodlust of war. Valkyries were charged with the duty of taking fallen heros from the battlefield back to the halls of Valhalla. Whilst they could be beautiful and playful serving maids and companians in the halls of Odin, in the heat of war they could be truly frightening; taking on monstrous forms and letting their sadistic side show.

Hugin and Munin, the ravens of Odin, represent his thoughts and memories. They are outside the triangle, representing the thoughts and memories of today. The birds within the triangle are echoes of Hugin and Munin; the thoughts and memories of yesterdays. The names Hugin and Munin are written in runic script within a rising sun, representing the dawn of a new day and the chance to have new thoughts and create new memories.

The Vikings were a bloodthirsty bunch, loving the thrill of the fight and the glory of a noble death in battle. Round wooden shields were favoured during the Viking Era, and were an important tool in conflict. This shield is decorated with four runes, Ehwaz, Berkana, Uruz and Teiwaz. The spear was associated with Odin, the head of the Norse pantheon.
